Mr. Hines passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2022, at his residence in Spring.

Dennis Hines was born in Hearne on December 13, 1951, but grew up in the South Houston area where he graduated from J. Frank Dobie High School. He married his high school sweetheart, Becky, on October 16, 1971, while she was a senior in high school, and he got a kick out of writing her excuses for missing school as well as signing her report cards. The couple soon moved to the Hines family old home place in Vanetia where they built a new home and raised three boys. Mr. Hines remained in Vanetia for forty-one years before moving to Spring to be closer to his youngest son and near medical facilities. Dennis worked for Nucor until he became medically disabled. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gun and coin collecting and gun and knife making. Mr. Hines was a member of the Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Spring.

He is survived by his wife, Becky Hines of Spring; two sons, Travis Hines & wife Cameron of College Station, and Jerrod Hines & wife Meredith of Spring; seven grandchildren, Haley Hines, Tara Hines, Dalton Hines, Cooper Collins, Brooke Hines, Alexa Hines, and Colt Hines; one sister, Jeanette Duke & husband Jerry of Marquez; his sister-in-law, Pamela Carlisle of Teague; his brother-in-law, Larry Baker of Dickinson; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mr. Hines was preceded in death by one son, Jimmy Hines; his father, Van Hines; and his mother, Mable Hines-Cash-Madden.
