Graveside services for Debbie Strader, 66, will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2020, at 2:00 p.m at Salem Cemetery near Freestone. Bro. Roy Prather will officiate. There will be no public visitation.
Ms. Strader passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2020, at the Skilled Care Center in Mexia.
She was born in Luling, TX on September 30, 1953, but moved to Freestone County with her family as a child where she lived for most of her life. Ms. Strader worked in the food service industry for all or her working years. She loved taking trips to the beach with her family, and enjoyed being around any body of water. One of her favorite things was having hamburger cook outs and family gatherings. A big part of her life was raising two dogs which she loved, “Sissy” and “Junie”. She always put her children and grandchildren first. Even during her illness she remained more concerned for her family’s well-being than for her own. Debbie was a Baptist by Faith and had attended Eighth Avenue Baptist Church in Teague in years past.
She is survived by one son, Michael Strader & wife Leah; one daughter, Angie McAdams & husband Tony all of Teague; four grandchildren, Seth Strader of Rosenburg, Ty McAdams, Laney McAdams, and Shelby Gallegos & husband Jacob all of Teague; her parents, Rufus & Wanda Burks of Donie; one brother, Joey Burks & wife Becky of Teague; four nieces; a cousin who was a “Special sister”, Annette McSwane Gurganus of Palestine; numerous other cousins and friends.
Ms. Strader was preceded in death by one brother, Kerry Burks and one nephew, Korey Burks.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Freestone Cancer Support Group, P.O. Box 1522, Fairfield, TX 75840.
