On Tuesday afternoon, July 28, 2020, an incident transpired when Freestone County Attorney, Brian Evans, entered the offices of the Freestone County Times, clearly agitated and immediately causing our news reporter to feel threatened, when Evans stormed towards the Editor’s work station, only to discover that the Editor was not in.

Then, Evans hurled an armchair, slamming it against the office wall.

Upon exiting the premises, Evans made another threat, to an already terrified reporter, that he would be returning the following day.

Thereafter, the Texas Attorney General’s Office was informed and its investigating division was alerted to the alleged assault on the Freedom of the Press and its employees by Brian Evans, an officer of the Court and elected public servant.

Perhaps a Letter to the Editor could have served Mr. Evans well, as a superior illustration of a cultured response, rather than Crossing the Rubicon.
