It’s time to Take the Plunge, Kick up Your Heels, and Get Ready to Rock at this year’s Freestone County Fair and Rodeo, which includes a Parade, Stick Bull/Horse Races, Rodeo, Livestock Show, Fair, Home & Garden Show, Beauty Pageant, and so much more!

Parade
Fair week is June 12-17, 2017 and it all kicks off on Monday at 7:00 p.m. with the annual parade, held in historic downtown Fairfield, Texas.

Parade route will originate north of the courthouse, turn east onto Highway 84 and continue on to the W. L. Moody Reunion Fairgrounds.

This event is always an entertaining highlight; and more than 100 entries are anticipated: including floats, bicycles, motorcycles, horses, marching bands, fire trucks and the Miss Freestone County, Miss Teen Freestone County, and Little Miss Freestone, Mini Miss Freestone, and Tiny Miss Freestone pageant contestants.

Stick Bull & Barrel Racing
Stick Horse Barrel Racing for girls and Stick Bull Riding for boys will follow the parade at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 12th under the Ike Carden Pavilion.

Event is open to children 4 years old and under through 7 years old.

Fair/Carnival
Reed Exposition Midways will once again bring their outstanding carnival rides.

he carnival will be open from 6:00 p.m. until close, Monday through Friday; and will open at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Passes entitling purchasers to unlimited rides will be sold, a different color each day, for $25.00 each.

Miss/Teen Freestone County Pageant
The crowning of a new Miss Freestone County and Miss Teen Freestone County is set for 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 13th at the Fairfield High School Auditorium.

12yrs & Under Beauty Pageant
Little Miss Freestone, Mini Miss Freestone, and Tiny Miss Freestone will be crowned on Saturday, June 10th, also at Fairfield High School Auditorium.

Ag Mechanics Show
The Ag Mechanics Show will start on Monday, June 12th at 1:00 p.m. with many projects from local Freestone County High School Students.

Home & Garden Show
The Home & Garden show will be hosting several extra events such as the Southwest Dairy Trailer on Wednesday morning, a Patriotic Quilt Display, and Story Time for the kiddos.

Go-Texan Horseshoes/Washers
The Go-Texan Horseshoes and Washer Tournaments will begin at 5:00 pm on Tuesday at the Rodeo Arena.

Youth Rodeo
The Yates Manahan Youth Rodeo, sponsored by RVOS & Rollo Insurance, will be held Wednesday, June 14th beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Rodeo Arena.  Admission is $7 for Adults, $3 for Youth

Adult Rodeo
Two performances of the CPRA, UPRA Rodeos are set for Friday evening, June 16th and Saturday evening, June 17th; both nights beginning at 8:00 p.m.  Admission is $8 for Adults, $4 for Youth.

New contractor is JJ Rodeo.  Announce will be TC Long; Funny man is Rudy Burns.

Mutton Busting
Mutton Busting, sponsored by Randy Turner Services, will also take place on Friday & Saturday Nights with 20 kids selected each night.

Youth must be at least 3 years old and not over 50 lbs. Entry Fee is $15. For more information, call 903-388-5869.

Goat Ropin’
Two divisions of competition will be offered this year as a new event.

One for kids 12 & Under and an Open division on Tuesday, June 13 & Thursday, June 15 evening at 7:00 pm, and Wednesday-Saturday at 3:00 p.m.

Entry is 3 head for $10.

Livestock Sale
The all-important Livestock Sale will begin at 9:30 a.m. on the morning of June 17th.

All are welcomed and encouraged to donate to one of the buyer’s groups to help purchase the projects of these hard working kids.

When it comes to music, some people are watchers, some are dancers and some just want to gather around.

Changes have been made to the pavilion area in order to give everyone plenty of room to enjoy.

The stage will now be on the north end of the pavilion (closer to the green barn) and there will be no cars parked all along the sides. The grassy area is expanding just a little to the south and a little to the west of the pavilion.

Everyone is welcome to bring out lawn chairs and blankets to sit on.
