Displaying pride in their country this Fourth of July weekend, Freestone County residents celebrated with fireworks, rodeos, and parades.


First up was the kick-off parade on Thursday, June 30, 2022 down Main Street in Teague, Texas followed by three action-packed nights of the 92nd Annual Teague 4th of July Rodeo. (Photos by Karen Leidy)

Folks enjoyed Mutton’ Busting, Bareback Riding, Team Roping, Barrels, and more. Plus, the World-Famous Wild Cow Milking!


Next, were the activities and Fireworks Show on Saturday at the fairgrounds in Fairfield.

Hosted by the City of Fairfield and Fairfield Chamber of Commerce, this annual event allowed families to enjoy the show under the stars while relaxing on their lawnchairs and picnic blankets.

Monday morning on the 4th saw residents of Wortham and Streetman enjoying their annual parades.

Wortham hosted the ‘4th on Main’ parade followed by water slides and snow cones on the brick streets of downtown.

The George Washington on the Delaware float took 1st Place in this year’s patriotic parade in downtown Wortham. They include Smith and Wesson Toney and friend, Izzy Labbe.

2nd Place was Bill Capers on his tractor,

and 3rd Place was Britney Bickley on her bike.

This year’s Grand Marshall was Jackie Spencer.

Streetman held their 25th annual lawnmower parade, enjoying hotdogs, snow cones, and a dunking booth for local “celebrities.”

The Streetman Lawnmower Parade honor the memory of Tommy J. Bryant who started the tradition with an American flag mounted on just one lawnmower.
