The Jonathan Hardin Chapter-NSDAR is proud to announce the Chapter is registered as a Sponsorship Group with the Wreaths Across America (WAA) organization.

WAA is a national, non-profit organization.

Their mission is three-fold:

1) Remember the Fallen,

2) Honor those who serve and their families, and

3) Teach our future generations about the sacrifices made for our freedoms.

Annually in December, sponsored wreaths are placed on veteran’s graves across the Country.

Our Chapter has selected two site locations for its first year: Driver Cemetery of Teague, Texas and LaSalle Cemetery of Groesbeck, Texas.

These locations are registered with WAA.

Our Chapter, as a Sponsorship Group, will raise funds to sponsor wreaths for each Veteran buried at these two cemeteries with hopes to sponsor more in the subsequent years.

There are 80 veterans buried at Driver Cemetery, and 41 veterans at LaSalle Cemetery.

A wreath sponsorship costs $15. The remembrance wreath is made with live evergreen boughs and a red ribbon.

Donations can be in cash, a check (to WAA0, or online through the WAA web page at https://wreathsacrossamerica.org/TX1128P

Each location has a link for donations.

Wreath sponsorships are due by November 14, 2022.

On December 17, 2022, a ceremony will be held at each location.

The LaSalle Cemetery Ceremony will be at 10:00 a.m. and the Driver Cemetery Ceremony will be at 2:00 p.m.

After the ceremony ends, wreaths will be placed on the veterans’ graves.

Volunteers are being sought for the ceremonies. Available duties include reverently placing wreaths on the graves during the ceremony, assisting with the program through music or speaking, serving as color guard for flag presentations, and leading in the National Anthem.

Volunteers as also welcome in January for cleanup of the cemeteries.
