Each Spring, the Community Care Club (CCC), a group of women who live in the FM 416 area on the south side of Richland Chambers Lake, holds a huge garage sale as its annual fundraiser.

The 2024 SuperSale will be held Saturday, April 27, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Southern Oaks Volunteer Fire Station (just north of FM 416 at Southern Oaks Drive).

Drop-off Day for donations is Friday, April 26th.

CCC is composed of about 75 women who work together to provide equipment funding for their local volunteer fire department, scholarships for area students, funds for children’s projects, food for area residents who need it, as well as help with the area’s helicopter pad, and several other charitable activities.

“We’re reaching out to residents across the Freestone County and Navarro County areas to ask for donations for what we call ‘a garage sale on steroids,’” says Mary Schutz, one of the event coordinators. “We’re looking for things that are new or gently used, unbroken, unsoiled, and functional or easily repaired that will fit our description of desirable items for the SuperSale.”

The CCC SuperSale Fundraiser Planning Committee is seeking quality donations for their upcoming “garage sale on steroids,” scheduled for April 27th. Drop-off day for donations is Friday, April 26th at the Southern Oaks Fire Station at 120 Southern Oaks Drive, east of Streetman. Here, Chris Grimes, one of the coordinators, is cleaning an old-fashioned plant stand to donate.

Examples of items that bring in cash for the Club’s many projects include such things as small or large appliances, furniture, home décor, kitchen items, linens, electronics in working order, collectibles, toys, tools, yard equipment, workshop equipment, functional vehicles such as autos or tractors. Organizers ask that you not donate clothing, mattresses, books, CDs, or broken items. Items should be brought to the SOVFD Fire Station (120 Southern Oaks Dr., east of Streetman) on Friday, April 26 (Drop-off Day), between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.
