By the end of next month, Freestone County will have its own water rescue boat. The $12,587 purchase was approved during the January 9, 2019 County Commissioners meeting.
The inflatable rescue boat is specifically designed for water rescue scenarios and will be manned by firefighters that are Swift Water Rescue certified.
The boat will be housed at the Teague Fire Department.
Currently, three Teague firefighters have been certified to Swift Water 1 and 2 standards, with plans to send more volunteers for training later this year.
“This equipment will be a great asset for our area,” say the folks at Teague First Department. “We greatly appreciate the continued support.”
