A lower tax rate was decided upon by the City of Teague Board of Aldermen during their Tuesday, September 8, 2020 meeting.
The 2019-2020 tax rate was set at $0.776732, but this year it is been lowered to $0.627920 per $100 valuation.
During the current tax year, all bonds were paid off which resulted in Teague having no debt, and in turn, lower tax rates for citizens.
The budget for fiscal years 2020-2021 was also approved at approximately $4.4 million.
Teague Mayor James Monks took to Social Media thanking, “each our department heads, city staff and the members of the city council for making this budget process a success.”
Monks further pointed out that equipment was purchased that repaired the roads, and that the repairs have held up under the recent rains.
