Following a few candidate withdrawals, it appears that only two cities will hold an election this May.
City of Fairfield
–Place 3: Incumbent Keith Daniels will face off against Robert Nichols.
–Place 4: Incumbent Landis Bayless will fun against Luke Ward, Jr.
–Place 5: Incumbent Jason Bosley will defend his appointment against David Steward.
City of Teague
–Place 2: Competing for this spot will be Dennis Cox, Wendy Bain, Melvin Mims, and Rhonda Jones. Incumbent Ron Rasbeary withdrew his candidacy.
–Place 4: Incumbent Chris Nickleberry will face off against Jamie West.
–Place 5: Vying for the position will be Ryan Mathison and Lois Mims.
Elections for City of Wortham and School Boards of Fairfield, Teague and Wortham are expected to be canceled as the exact number of candidates applied for the open positions.
–City of Wortham: Incumbent Cliff NeSmith and newcomer Scott Batts will fill two “At Large” council positions; and Pellie Goolsby as Mayor. Frank McClellan withdrew his mayoral candidacy.
–Fairfield ISD: Three “At Large” positions will be filled by incumbents Kim Whitaker and Greg Gibson, and O.B. Utley, IV.
–Teague ISD: Incumbents Brian Bowers – Place 2 and Jeff Gonzales – Place 4 will serve their next term.
–Wortham ISD: Incumbents Brent Jones – Place 3 and Sam Wright – Place 4 will continue on the Board.
Elections are scheduled for May 4, 2019; Early Voting will start on April 22, 2019.
