Wearing a t-shirt that read, “Love Our Fairfield,” Andrew Weitner, pastor of New Life Church of Fairfield, welcomed the community during an Open House celebration on Monday, March 18, 2019. “If we’re not doing that,” said Weitner, pointing to the words on his shirt, “we are not doing anything.” “We want to be a part of the change in Fairfield,” Weitner continued, who spoke of changing lives and hearts. Pointing out that theirs is the only Protestant church in the surrounding five blocks, located near the fairgrounds, Weitner stated that members of New Life have adopted their neighbors and pray for them “every time we meet.” It is part of their focus to become a church outside the four walls, says Weitner. There have been physical changes to the church building, as well, the church has been doing great fundraisers in order to afford the metal church building costs. The baptismal has been gutted to make room for storage, and the office will be moving upstairs. “We are in the beginning steps,” says Weitner. The church has plans to redo the restrooms to make them handicap compliant, and there are plans to build a ramp at the churches front entrance. The Weitner family has been a part of New Life Church since November of 2017. Andrew serves as a Hospice Chaplain, and Amber is a teacher at Faith Academy of Fairfield.
