The filing period for public office candidates requesting a place on the 2024 Republican and Democratic primary ballots opened November 11th and will close on Monday, December 11th.

Primaries will be held on March 5, 2024.

This is a Presidential election year, with both President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump filing their candidacy.

Other offices up for election in Texas include U.S. Senator (currently held by Ted Cruz), all 38 U.S. Representatives, Railroad Commissioner (currently held by Christi Craddick), 3 members of the Texas Supreme Court, 3 members of the Texas Court of Appeals, and 7 members of the State Board of Education.

Texas voters will also choose 15 State Senators, all 150 State Representatives, Chief Justice of Courts of Appeals, and various District Judges and District Attorneys.

In Freestone County, ballots will include the Sheriff, County Attorney, Tax Assessor-Collectors, County Commissioners, Justice of the Peace, and Constables.

For those running for office inside the borders of Freestone County, candidates file with the Party Chair.

Statewide positions require filing with the State Chair for the Republican or Democratic Party.

And candidate for federal positions must file a federal application.

Republicans – Tom Maynard
Democrats – DC Caldwell I and Raquel Saenz Ortiz

State Representative – District 13:
Republicans – Angelia Orr
Democrats – none to date
