A local Fairfield church will be offering a host of events and activities this Saturday, April 20th, as they participate in their annual Resurrection Celebration event.
Calvary Baptist Church has activities planned at the church from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and every member of the family will find something to enjoy. For the third consecutive year, church members will be providing a community-wide free catfish dinner with all the trimmings.
The past two year’s events have been a tremendous success with more than 400 people each year being served the fried catfish meal. Plenty of tables will be provided for everyone to enjoy a sit-down meal and fellowship with old friends and make new acquaintances.
Live music will once again be part of the celebration outside Calvary’s Life Center complex. Tin Top Road, a well-known Bluegrass band with ties to the community, will be performing during the celebration. Children will have numerous games and crafts to participate in with plenty of candy to be given out by church members. Free snow cones will also be available this year.
Many of the church’s well known bakers will be providing cakes for a cake judging contest. Those enjoying the fried fish luncheon will be able to sample a portion of those specialties as they will be served as dessert. Cookies and other items will also be provided.
Members of the Calvary staff and congregation will be available throughout the day to share information about the many ministries offered by the local church.
“This is a tremendously enjoyable event for our Calvary family,” Pastor Terry Skinner stated. “As we celebrate and remember the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ next Sunday, we look forward to Saturday when we can spend a few moments with others from our community. Regardless of your church affiliation, we welcome everyone to join us for a great time of fellowship and blessings.”
Calvary is located at 220 East Main in Fairfield. For more information, contact the church office at 903-389-2613.
