Beginning October 3, 2018, weather permitting, FM 489 near Dew will be closed in order to install safety upgrades and perform maintenance to the existing FM 489 bridge over IH 45.
The Texas Department of Transportation’s contractor will have signs and message boards in place to inform motorists of the detour route that will use the West Frontage Road of I-45 and State Highway 179. The work will also require temporary lane closures of I-45.
The FM 489 bridge upgrade is part of a $1.7 million project that will consist of upgrading guard fence, bridge rail, bridge maintenance, and installing column protection for 4 bridges along I-45. The detour of FM 489 should last approximately one month, weather permitting.
TxDOT encourages motorists to exercise caution when driving in work zones.
