A total of 203 entries were logged into this year Home & Garden Show at the Freestone County Fair & Rodeo.

Grand Champions include the following:

–Quilts (division 2) – Molly Fryer
This quilt featured a square of wreaths with red flowers with several different borders of triangles.

–Needlework & Crafts (division 3) – Wyatt Steward
This young man created a crane from an Erector set.

–Food Preservation (division 4) – Kathy McSwane
A beautiful jar of Jalapeno Pepper Jam/Jelly included a hand-written recipe.

–Baked Goods (division 5) – Caiden Hullum
Sold at auction, this young man’s winning entry was a delicious Pecan Cheesecake.

–Photography (division 6) – Marrianne Walker
Titled “Old and New,” this black and white rodeo photograph featured old and young hands in the saddle waiting for the moment the chute would open.

–Art (division 7) – Nora Carroll
A pair of acrylic paintings earned this award, featuring a young girl nuzzling her horse and a gray wolf peering through birch trees.

–Horticulture (division 8) – Virginia Kraus
Using an old metal toolbox, this entry included an arrangement of succulents and tiny dinosaur toys.

This year’s Home & Garden Show included a full week of activities.

Chef Stuart Mayo demonstrated cookware and served some delicious food samples to fairgoers.

Helen Ann of Teague Public Library hosted a daily book reading and activities for the younger attendees.

And, a multi-generational group gave a presentation on bees and beekeeping.

This was the first year for Heather Idlett to coordinate the Home & Garden Show. “It’s a lot of work,” she said with a smile.
