Many different kinds of art will be obvious around the courthouse square on Saturday, October 1, at the annual Fall Arts Fest.  Mcgannbrothers said that  “Life is all about art, not just the kind that hangs on a wall or flows through a speaker.  Art is about expressing our creative skills and imagination, producing works of beauty and emotion,” according to Janie Richards, Director of Trinity Star Arts Council.
The event kicks off at 11 am with live music, murals and a balloon release.
The exhibit,  American Landscapes, displays paintings from the massive art collection of Fairfield native Graham Devoe Williford, who assembled over 1100 pieces of American art throughout his life, bequeathing it to The Jean and Graham Williford Charitable Trust.  The Trust’s mission is to preserve and lend these works to non-profit museums and organizations throughout the world for the enjoyment and education of the public.  Since 2009 the Williford Foundation headquarters and gallery have been housed on the west side of the square, a rare jewel for a small town.  Each season Tyler Museum of Art hangs selected paintings at the Foundation.  This season’s exhibit, which will open on October 1 during the festival, will include paintings of American landscapes such as “On the XL Ranch” by artist George Barse.
Other Graphic art at the Fall Arts Fest is the exhibit entitled Freestone Critters by FISD students, face painting, hands-on children’s art, balloon art and caricatures.  Drama will be presented by marionettes and roving entertainers.  Literary art will be obvious in John R. Erickson’s storytelling from his Hank the Cow Dog books.  Art of the Dance will be in the form of The Aggie Wrangler’s energetic performances.  Music, one of the best-loved forms of The Arts, will be performed by CSO Lite, Tin Top Road Bluegrass Band and vocalists.
Fall Arts Fest is a family-friendly, free event made possible by Trinity Star Arts Council Patrons, Texas Commission on The Arts, The City of Fairfield, Luminant, Community National Bank and Trust, Farmers State Bank, Incommons Bank, Brookshire Brothers, Capps True Value Hardware, Lone Star Chevrolet/Freestone Chrysler Jeep Dodge and Stan Waldrip/Keller Williams Realty.   In-kind sponsors include Red Hat Rentals, Texas 99, Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department and many other volunteers.
