Kids on bikes, antique cars and trucks, sports cars, floats and more made their way through downtown Fairfield on Saturday morning, July 8th, in celebration of the Dogan Alumni Reunion Weekend.
The parade kicked off at 10 a.m. at the Dogan campus, wound its way through downtown and around the Freestone County Courthouse before returning back to campus.
Following the parade, at 11:30 a.m. a dedication ceremony was held to reveal the new State of Texas Historical Marker that took four years of hard work to obtain.
Chairman of the Freestone County Historical Commission, Brad Pullin, welcomed everyone to the event, explaining the process of getting the marker approved.
Next, various alumni members spoke, thanking all who were involved in the process.
Finally, President of the Association, Joyce Ransom Bennett, gave a synopsis of the marker before it was revealed to a huge round of applause and cheering.
The ceremony was closed with a prayer offered up by Wilmer Bonner, Chaplain of the association.
