Giving the ‘green light’ to a new development project is the Teague Board of Aldermen, who unanimously approved implementation of zoning requirements for Teague Senior LTD Development during a Regular Called Meeting on Monday, April 10, 2023.

The proposed project had been previously discussed during a Workshop on Wednesday afternoon, March 22, 2023.

According to Teague Mayor David Huffman, the project is valued as a $7 Million investment by Homestead Development of Bryan, Texas.
“Groundbreaking, pending no unexpected issues, should be in January 2024,” said Mayor Huffman.

According to Wade Bienski, their company is looking to develop a senior restricted town-home development off of 740 U.S. Hwy 84 in Teague, Texas. It is expected to include 40 unites restricted to individuals ages 55 and older.

“We are applying for tax-credit funding from the State to help fund this project,” said Bienski, “which will allow us to rent out the units as a reduced rate.

Teague’s City attorneys at Borjorquez Law Firm have been tasked with implementing the zoning requirements for the project.

Also during this meeting, the appointment of Judy Keally as Interim City Secretary was approved.

Next scheduled meeting for Teague City Council is set for Monday, May 8, 2023 beginning at 6:00 p.m.
