Several Freestone County athletes completed their high school careers on the court or the field as All-Stars in the annual FCA Victory Bowl events across the Waco area region over the weekend.

The events began on Thursday at the Johnson Activity Center at Fairfield High School for boys’ and girls’ basketball.

Fairfield’s Kaylee Williams suited up for the Blue All-Stars and played on her home court. She was a starter and hit a transition basket to tie the score early at 4-4. She followed with a three pointer to build a 12-8 Blue lead, and they would hold that through the first half. Williams led the fast break for a score and assisted with a great pass for a score from Taylor Larue of Bosqueville, who was named the game’s Most Outstanding Player. Williams hit a pair of free throws to break a 46-46 tie with less than three minutes left, and the Blue team would hold off a late comeback attempt. Blue took the win and Williams scored 13 points and added six rebounds, three assists, and a pair of steals.

Madden McElroy of Fairfield played for the Red All Stars and led all scorers with 27 points in a Red 72-66 win. McElroy hit a short jumper to put the Red All Stars ahead early in the first period. He added a score off an offensive rebound to tie the game near the end of the first period. He had a blocked shot that led to a score and pushed down three slam dunks during the second half.

The venue changed for Saturday and Waco ISD Stadium for the 18th annual football game. Jacob Matthews saw action on the offensive line, and it was his first action on the gridiron this season, since he was injured early in the 2025 football season for the Teague Lions. Mason Edwards played on both sides of the ball, most of the time at center and led the Blue offense down the field. Two big plays that netted two Red touchdowns was enough for a Red 28-21 win. Bubba Zacharias teamed up with his fellow McGregor Bulldog teammate for a 73-yard touchdown pass to take the lead and Tank Scott of Bremond picked off a Blue pass and returned it 84 yards for the game sealing score.

Waco University hosted the volleyball game, and it featured three Freestone County athletes. Avery Strait of Fairfield was joined on the Blue All-Stars by Teague’s Miley Steen and Kameryn Thompson. Strait played both the front and back rows. Steen had three service points to put the Blue All-Stars ahead 13-8 and Kaitlyn Jenkins of Rosebud-Lott had a kill on the Strait serve to build the lead forcing a Red timeout. Blue would win game one of the set 25-15.

Red would win the next two games 25-17 and 25-12. Strait had a kill in the fourth game to cut into an eight-point lead, but the Blue could not gain ground and fell in game four 25-17, and Red took the match 3-1.

Lady Eagle, Kaylee Williams, played for the Blue Team and was named FCA All-Star Champion. “FCA camp was one of the best experiences I’ve ever attended. I was grateful I was picked to play my last game for the All-Star bowl. Winning the game was just such a blessing and an amazing time, but the most important part was not only playing for me but playing for God. The experience was wonderful getting close with new friends but most importantly just learning the importance about Jesus,” says Kaylee. (Top Left – Courtesy Photo)

Eagle, Madden McElroy, lead the Red Team to a 97-86 victory, scoring a game-high 27 points and earning MVP honors. “It feels amazing to be recognized for something I’ve worked so hard at,” says Madden. “Playing in that game and getting awarded was a huge honor; just having the opportunity to learn from some of the best coaches around about basketball, and the gospel from the great man above, God. I’m so grateful to have been a part of it. KK and I have been pushing each other all season, and it’s awesome to see that hard work pay off,” says Madden. (Top Right – Courtesy Photo)
