Jessie Bea (Hilton Deason) Schaefer passed away on March 28, 2026, just one day after her 90th birthday.
Bea was born to Willie Virgie Powdrill and Wightman M. Hilton on March 27, 1936, in Joaquin, TX.
Her parents divorced when she was very young and her mother remarried to Jack Deason. Bea was raised by Virgie and Jack, so she used Deason as her last name.
She married the love of her life, Vernon Schaefer, on June 17, 1955, in Notrees, TX.
Bea and Vernon were founding members of Westway Baptist Church in Huntsville, TX where they were
very involved in all aspects of the church.
She also enjoyed her job as a salesperson and manager for Tupperware for many years. She was very successful with Tupperware and won many awards.
She loved her family very much and enjoyed making desserts for them and was known for many wonderful recipes.
Bea was preceded in death by her husband, parents, stepfather, sister Mildred M. Hilton, brothers Emmitt H. Hilton, and Billy H. Hilton, and several nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Cathy Schaefer of Fairfield, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Ginger and James Rains of Huntsville, TX; grandchildren, Nicole and Jason Schaefer, both of Fairfield, TX; step-grandchildren, Joshua and Jamie Gayle Rains, both of Huntsville, TX; numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and the caretakers at Fairview Healthcare Residence in Fairfield, TX.
The Schaefer family would like to THANK the staff at Fairview Healthcare Residence in Fairfield for the great care and friendship they provided to Bea in her three years of residence there. We are truly grateful.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, beginning at Noon at Griffin Roughton Funeral Home in Fairfield, TX.
Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Lake Chapel Cemetery of Fairfield, TX.
