Michael Dean Davis, Jr. (left), 27, was arrested in Laredo on November 12 and charged with murder in connection with the discovery of human remains found at a property in Buffalo, Texas on October 22, 2024.
This, following an extensive and thorough investigation by the Leon County Sheriff’s Office after they were notified of a missing person and child who had not been seen or heard from by family members since July of 2022.
According to a Facebook press release by Leon County Sheriff Department, on October 22, their Criminal Investigation Division executed a search warrant at the Buffalo address where the human remains were discovered.
The remains were forensically examined by the Center for Human Identification at The University of North Texas and were positively identified as that of 27-year-old Mahogany Washington, the mother of Davis’s 8-year-old son.
Many agencies worked together on this investigation and searched for Davis, suspected of involvement, and Davis was successfully apprehended in Laredo, was charged with Murder and transported to Webb County Jail where he is being held on a $3,000,000 bond.
A tip led to Davis’s capture at a residence in south Laredo, where the boy was found unharmed. He was sent to Child Protective Services.
Also found on site by Police were several rifles, gas masks, and an armor suit.
Davis received additional charges of endangerment of a child based on the poor condition of the home, according to sources.
