Dear Editor,

Soon Americans will be voting to elect the next person to head the Executive Branch of our federal government. In essence, hiring a chief executive; a CEO. So what is the job description? “…preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

The President directs the executive branch of our three branches of government and is not responsible for making laws or statutes, not for settling disputes about how they apply when questioned. We should elect a person that can competently and effectively operate the “machinery” of our federal government, not reimagine or recreate it. That is the responsibility of legislators.

As citizens we do not need a government that performs the role of conscience, parent, caretaker, friend or priest. Vote for focus and competence.

God Bless America.
