Dear Editor,
In his latest letter “Déjà vu…all over again” 5/18/24 writer El Sellers reveals several startling desires for the upcoming election.
After recounting the Democratic Convention of 1968 in Chicago, marked by expansive protests of the Viet Nam war, Sellers claimed that American voters can only “hope” and “pray” for a “replay of the 1968 meltdown.” At first, Sellers “cheerfully recalls” that the “lunatic fringe of the democratic party” demonstrated “wild, sometimes violent, and very disruptive” behavior.
Why such “hopes and prayers” for a repeat of this violence of riots and chaos? Sellers explains, “(the disrupted Democratic Convention) destroyed any chance of responsible, thinking Americans taking seriously a democratic nominee as President of the United States.” The message: Riots are great, as long as the Democrat doesn’t win.
Adding more context, Sellers then makes this startling admission: “a large percentage of the (rioters) are…POLITICAL RADICALS” with participating students being “merely useful (and ignorant) idiots.” Then, Sellers muses these riots “are organized and financed,” and then asks “By whom?” Any cop can tell you where to start looking for a perpetrator; it’s the person who stands to GAIN. In this case, those desiring (organizing, funding) more RIOTS are those who oppose Democrats. Mystery SOLVED.
