On Sunday, October 2, the Wortham High School Chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) inducted six new members in a candle lighting ceremony.  The new inductees included: Sierra Davis, Bradley Gragg, TJ Grela, Bre Kennedy, Madison Newhouse, and JaKayla Williams.

During the ceremony, current members lit candles to symbolize the four pillars that serve as standards for the NHS: scholarship, leadership, service, and character.  As the inductees were introduced by the principal, Mr. David Hayes, and the academic advisor, Mrs. Amy Jo Miller, they received a certificate and a membership pin.

This is the seventh year that Wortham High School has participated in the NHS program under the consultation of Mrs. Katherine Havens, faculty sponsor.  Last year, the members volunteered over 750 hours of community service and mentoring hours in the schools and surrounding communities.

Congratulations to these hard working students!
