The Fairfield Eagles had a couple of great games as the host team of the Fairfield Eagle Invitational but finished lost the consolation game to the Corsicana Tigers on the final day.

The Eagles opened the tournament taking on the Athens Hornets. Pierre Allgood and Rex Bean each hit a three pointer and Bean finished the period with eight points and Fairfield led at the end of the first 15-14. Allgood added eight points in the second period and Bean contributed six points to win the period by three and take a 35-31 halftime lead.

Athens did some damage at the free throw line and held the Eagles to 12 points to open the second half and cut into the lead. They trailed 50-47 after the third period.

Kamren Griffin hit four shots in the final period and scored 13 of his 21 points to close out the game. Allgood added 21 points and Bean finished with 18 in the 69-62 win.

The second game of the tournament was the highlight of the day and the weekend but the Eagles found it a loss in pool play. Daniels and Griffin scored 22 and 21 points respectively and Allgood scored 19 and Bean was the fourth Eagle in double figures with 15 in the 104-95 overtime loss to the Azle Hornets. The game went to overtime tied at 88 each.

Gavin Dean scored 19 of his game high 45 points in the third period and hit nine three pointers in the most exciting and entertaining game of the entire tournament.

The Eagles played the final game of pool play against the Eustace Bulldogs. Fairfield had played the overtime game just a couple of hours before so the crisp offense was not the usual way for the Eagles in the final game of day two. Bean and Cunningham hit three pointers in the first period and Allgood scored on three possessions out of four to take a double-digit lead after the first quarter at 19-9.

Cunningham and Bean added three pointers in the second quarter and Daniels scored late in the half and Fairfield added a point to the lead and maintained the double figure lead 31-0.

They stretched it to over twenty in the opening minutes of the second half. Griffin and Allgood hit from long distance and the Eagles hit ten of 17 shots from the field while holding the Bulldogs to five of 15 and the Eagles led 54-31 at the end of the third period. The teams finished the long tournament day and held a double-digit lead throughout and won the game 60-44.

The Eagles faced Corsicana on the final day of the tournament. Daniels scored two times in the opening period and the Tigers went on a 4-0 run to close the quarter and trailed 12-9 and then they score on six of the first nine possessions in the second quarter to extend the lead to 29-20. Bean hit a three pointer and Griffin scored twice in the third and closed the gap to 39-34, however, the Tigers hit key three pointers in the final quarter and built a double-digit lead and held on for the 58-45 win.
