Less than fifteen minutes after shots being fired was reported, local law enforcement had two in custody in Fairfield, Texas.

Tuesday, November 24, 2020, before 7:30 p.m. an emergency call came in of shots being fired from the inside of a vehicle driving down County Road 601, according, to the report.

The witness reported they had heard multiple shots fired, saw the vehicle drive down the road, and then again heard shots being fired.

Five Freestone County Deputies, two DPS State Troopers, and one Fairfield Officer had the suspects in their custody.

Not before the suspects had allegedly attempted to evade arrest and threw two firearms from the vehicle during the attempt.


The investigation led to the arrest of two individuals, one known as Eric Carter (pictured), and the other unknown at this time.

The other suspect may be a juvenile, as names are normally withheld for those arrested under the age of seventeen.

Firearms were recovered, and the subjects have both been charged with evading arrest, dangerous conduct, and tampering with evidence.

Carter was later released on a surety bond.
