A shortage of all sorts of groceries and household goods, coupled together with a desire to eat healthier has led some to look for ‘Alternate Grocery’ ideas.

Freestone County has plenty of options to eat healthier and fresher including meat, produce, breads, and more.

Teague Farmers Market

The quickest and easiest place to shop for your homegrown goods is at the Teague Farmers Market.

The fourth Sunday of the Month shows people turning out in mass to shop the huge variety of goods available.

The Burns Family and their Purple potatoes (REALLY!) and pumpkins are waiting for shoppers just over the gate when you first enter the market.

Not far down are some homemade and delectable jams with flavors like Blackberry Bourbon, Cinnamon Pear Bourbon, Blueberry and more, made by Gee’s Homemade.

The Blackberry Bourbon is delicious!

Chef Grumpy Baker brought some sweetness to share in the form of strawberry pockets, Reese’s fudge, and her -sold out in a few hours- cinnamon rolls.

Located here in Freestone County is Out Home Farm offering their Grass-Fed, Grass-Finished, twenty-eight day dry-aged beef and their pastured pork for sell.

Bringing some delicious heat is Chelle’s Peppers with Cowboy Candy, Cowboy Mopping Sauce, and Pickled Peppers.

Make sure you have your tortilla chips ready for Twist Off Bar & Grill Salsas which come in mild to habanero with plenty in between. Plus, they have their own line of BBQ sauce too.

If you need you some local fresh beef, check out RLC Meat with their Patty Wagon full of ground beef, maybe some tenderloin and Angus Ribeyes.

Twisted Jams knows how to mix it up with flavorful jams like Red Solo Cup, Dr Pepper Jelly, Orange Rosemary and so much more.

Before you get the sniffles, visit Five Hart’s and pick up some of the Elderberry creations or maybe the Vitamin C.

Bringing out their locally grass-fed meats is The Regen Ranch with lamb, pork and turkey. Rumor has it she has turkeys set aside for Thanksgiving, and they will never be frozen.

Buzzing with delicious honey is Chris Cook, member of the Texas Beekeepers Association, and his one pound jars full of the sweet, golden stuff.

Need a pick me up, check out Half Avenue with their fresh ground coffee. Grab you a bag of grounds, or get a cold, flavored drink to go.
Delicious breads made by Baked are available, but only if you get there early! They were sold out in just a few short hours.

Produce and more produce is offered by Pruitt Farms, they probably have even MORE produce hidden away somewhere.

Angel Garden & Design was also there with delicious, healthy produce to prepare amazing salads or to just munch on.

Fairfield, Texas

Cooper Farms offers many treats aside from their famous peaches, pecans and other seasonal produce. They also have a store at I-45 and Hwy 27 that offers a wide variety of delicacies and delights.

With a huge variety of meat and even some cheese is J&S Meat Processing, not only do they offer meat processing but you can pick up beef, pork and chicken including smoked goods.
Teague, Texas

Outside of the Farmer’s Market you can visit Luna Meats in Teague with their grass-fed cattle. Their offerings include everything from steaks to oxtail and even whole and half cows!

There are numerous options all around, just reach out and find your favorite foods right here in Freestone County.
