Well, it is getting to be the time of the “cleaning out the water gap” series! Those gaps have not let us down, they need cleaning every time we get rain…that might be an exaggeration but that is what it seems like. So far, they have not been nearly as bad as they were in the past, but we are not holding our breath either! The way that water roars through that little creek is absolutely amazing. It cuts in to the banks especially where the creek turns. We have tried all kinds of things to keep that from happening but so far nothing has worked.
We are just about out of ideas on what to do for it. I have seen on the internet some kind of thing you put on your gap that automatically raises the fence across the water source, but it would not do for our case. It only works if everything is flat and is rainwater only. Ours comes down from a hill and brings all kinds of logs, sticks, etc. with it.
It is a necessary evil we have to put up with because the gaps only need cleaning out when we get a lot of rain…we never turn down rain! So, guess we will just keep cleaning them out time after time at the Red Oak Ranch.
