On Sunday, November 3, the Wortham High School Chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) inducted eight new members in a candle lighting ceremony.
The new inductees included: Brandon Coker, Rylee Goolsby, Ben Havens, Gaby Mondragon, JJ Rojas, Summer Settlemyer, Grace Talbot, and Megan Whaley.
During the ceremony, current members lit candles to symbolize the four pillars that serve as standards for NHS: scholarship, leadership, service, and character.
As the inductees were introduced, they received a certificate and a membership pin.
This is the fourth year that Wortham High School has participated in the NHS program under the advisement of Mrs. Katherine Havens, faculty sponsor.
Last year, the members volunteered over 600 hours of community service and mentoring hours in the schools and community.
Congratulations to these hard working students!
