The City of Fairfield has learned from the Texas Department of Transportation’s Bryan District that a traffic signal will be installed at the intersection of U.S. 84 and Post Oak Road.

Representatives from TxDOT informed City Administrator Nate Smith that the district agreed with the city’s assessment that a signal is needed at that intersection following a traffic study earlier this year. The district is currently working on a design for the intersection but could not give a firm timeline on when that design would be installed.

“This intersection has needed a signal for a very long time,” Mayor Kenneth Hughes said. “We are grateful that TxDOT agrees and will put a signal there.”

The city will continue to be in touch with TxDOT on the signal project’s progress and will help inform residents when more information becomes available. Please check with the city by following its Facebook page or by calling 903-389-2633 for more information.
