Dear Editor,

My husband recently had a serious surgery done in Temple at Scott and White. After eight days there he was still not physically able to return home but needed a skilled nursing facility. A friend told us about a new service that is being done by our own Freestone Co. Medical Facility, called Swing Bed. Their service is taking care of the patient until they are rehabbed and strong enough to go to their own home.
We cannot praise the facility enough. Our hospital here in Fairfield is beautiful as well as immaculately clean. The food was outstanding, the physical therapist was encouraging and worked to improve my husband’s strength, cheerfully and with care. The nurses could not have been more caring or kind and responded immediately to any calls. Vitals were taken once a day, unless you asked for it to be done more. They were concerned about some bleeding at one point and went to the ER and asked the doctor, who was a surgeon, if he would check it out. He did and re-stitched something that had come loose. I felt that they were watching and caring for him just as I would have.
The rooms are nice and big with chairs and a couch that makes into a bed, so there is a place to stay if you feel the need to stay with your loved one as well as seating for visitors.
Thank you to each of the staff that made my husband’s two week stay as pleasant as it possible could have been. We are so fortunate to have this beautiful and caring facility and want people to be aware of this as a choice when needing interim care.
