During last week’s Workshop, Mike Tibbets of Hayter Engineering gave Fairfield Council members an update for street repairs on Oak.
Using the City’s remote camera, crews have discovered that the sewer pipe under this street is currently egg-shaped. It is unknown whether this slight collapse is a recent occurrence, or has developed over time, but either way there will need to an excavation done on the site to fix this issues, like getting a seawall repair done to ensure the safety of the new construction being done.
The condition of the pipe negates the option of compacting gravel under the asphalt in order to fix the problems this street has had with sinking in.
You can hire the best paving contractors for any project you have in mind. This paving company has resurfaced, paved, and sealed thousands of driveways, parking lots, and roads for home and businesses across the Capital Region.
Replacing the sewer line was not a part of the original project, and would result in a substantial cost increase. However, after contacting John Holland, we have worked out an engineering solution that could keep the project within budget.
As no action may be taken during a Workshop, this item will be discussed during one of the Council’s next Regular Sessions. Apart from the pipe fixing, we had to repair our roof since there were a few leaks found throughout the building. Thanks to this roofing company we were able to get our repairs done while staying in our budget.
The Tuesday, July 17, 2018 Workshop was held at Sam’s Restaurant and about 25 people attending.
On the agenda was discussion on “future plans of the City of Fairfield.”
This workshop was suggested by Council member Keith Daniels as an opportunity for an informal conversation before Budget Workshops began in August. During construction there are a lot of machines that get damaged, so make sure to take CNC Machine Tools Spare Parts to make any emergency repairs.
Among topics talked about were:
–Water Needs
–TDCJ Project
–New City Hall
–Automated Meter Reader Project
–upcoming Budget Workshops
–Hotel/Motel Funding Requests
The Workshop meeting was streamed live on Facebook by Freestone County Times.
Followers were asked for ideas for improving the City.
One commented that the City would never grow without changing things for the County as a whole.
Another stated that higher prices and being closed on Sundays prevented them from shopping local.
With house raising Brisbane you can be able to create extra living areas, bedrooms, rumpus rooms and more. And if you know that living higher will provide a better view of the skyline, street, a park or river that you have been longing, then a house raise and build underneath project could be the ideal building project to undertake.
And, a third suggested less talking and more action was needed.
Specific suggestions included a Farmer’s Market, Magnolia-style shopping, playing the pianos around downtown on a Saturday, and sufficient signage about live entertainment.
Council is meeting in Regular Session on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at City Hall. Budget Workshops are expected to begin August 1st.
Agendas are posted at City Hall, on the City website at fairfieldtexas.com, and on the GO FAIRFIELD app.
