Although not technically a crash, emergency crews responded to an incident with an ultra-light aircraft at Teague Airport last week that resulted in broken leg bones for an elderly man from Grapeland, Texas.
According to fellow aircraft enthusiast, Billy Patterson, who was at the Airport at the time, the single-seat Weedhopper exited the runway and was rolling onto the grass when a nose strut collapsed, causing the pilot’s legs to be pulled underneath.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at approximately 8:30 a.m.
Responding were Teague VFD, Teague EMS, Teague PD and Texas DPS Troopers.
Reportedly, the pilot required surgery, but is doing well.
