Freestone County is blessed to have a strong force of men and women who serve in times of crisis.
They are our law enforcement, volunteer firefighters, and Emergency Medical Services — the Everyday Heroes who answer the call when residents are in trouble. (Click here to view the special section honoring these special people.)
There is Freestone County Sheriff Jeremy Shipley and his deputies; city police officers led by Fairfield Chief of Police Kenny Bulger, Teague Chief of Police DeWayne Philpott, and Wortham Chief of Police Kelly Butler.
Serving their precincts are Constables Buck Bonner – Pct. 1, Lynn Clary – Pct. 2, Pamela Barnes – Pct. 3, and Wade Harrison – Pct. 4.
Nine volunteer fire departments serve our county, including Butler VFD, Dew VFD, Donie VFD, Fairfield VFD, Kirvin VFD, Southern Oaks VFD, Streetman VFD, Teague VFD, and Wortham VFD.
In addition, medical transport is administered in our county by Air Evac, Fairfield Ambulance Service, and Teague Hospital District EMS.
We encourage our readers to take time to say “thanks” to these organizations for giving of their time and service in keeping us all safe.
