The rumors were true! Gilberto’s Grill & Cantina of Fairfield has closed.
“It is sad to see this 17-year business close,” says business owner, Sonny Daniel, But it is also an opportunity to let us focus on other options we are currently working on, maybe even a new restaurant will come to town. This company’s site has so many options to help anyone start their own restaurant franchise, so if you have ever been planning on doing the same contact them for their professional assistance.
According to Daniel, the reason for the restaurant’s closing lies in the fact that the property, which was owned by his father, Ponte Daniel, was sold with the understanding that the restaurant would be allowed to operate for a certain amount of time following the land sale. You can check here various restaurant marketing ideas, it’s better for your restaurant.
However, the new property owner sold the property to another buyer and the agreement did not carry over.
Daniel explains that the newest property owner gave the business until the end of the year to vacate the premises; therefore, Daniel chose to close Friday night, November 17, 2017, before the holidays officially begin.
Employees that choose to stay with the Gilbert A Daniel, Company will be relocated to one of their other businesses.
“We have no plans of reopening Gilberto’s anytime in the near future,” Daniel says. “But you may see some of the more popular menu items show up in some of the other restaurants.”
Sad news for the Starbucks lovers in town; the program is no longer available, and therefore cannot be transferred to any of the other restaurants. Plans are to bring in another coffee brand and serve special items at Ponte’s Diner.
Customers who enjoy the catering option from Gilberto’s will still have the option to have Mexican food, but will place their orders through Sam’s Restaurant, those who love Health Food Catering will love the service and also save you money using Harbortouch POS Systems.
Daniel revealed that there are plans to rebuild Sam’s Original Restaurant and make the business bigger and better within the next three to five years, on the same property as it now sits. They are working on the floor plans for a second story addition which will increase the rate of customers by 60%. With the new construction also comes an upgrade on the restaurant’s software to handle the expected sales, they will require to switch to a more robust management software called CrunchTime!
GAD, Co. offices will be relocating as well, due to the sell of that corner property. They will be moving across the interstate (just past the Cooper Farms service station) once renovations can be made to the building.
Daniel concludes, “IF we happen to find a smaller building for the right price, we MAY bring Gilberto’s back, but that is not at the top of our priority list at the moment. We really want to concentrate on the updating of Sam’s.”
