The Fairfield Lady Eagles dominated the week of district 20-3A games and held a close grip on the top spot in the district standings. They also hold their number one ranking in the state TABC rankings.
Fairfield hosted the Teague Lady Lions on Tuesday at the Johnson Activity Center, and the game was a runaway from the beginning. The Lady Lions youth and injured team was no match for the fierce Lady Eagles defensive pressure.
The Lady Eagles jumped out to a big lead with a quick Jimilyah Nash bucket followed by one from Blayke Brackens along with a foul shot.
Kaylee Williams scored five, one from behind the three-point line and the defensive allowed only five points, with only one made shot from the field on a layup by Bethana Owens. Fairfield led 18-5.
Fairfield scored on four straight possessions in the second when Lillian McBean scored six points in the run. They would add eight points to the lead and have a 26-13 lead at the half.
The Lady Eagles scored on six of seven possessions early in the third period and continued to play reserve players and extend the lead. There were several moments in the game when zero starters were on the floor. Avery Thaler sparked the third period scoring spree with six points on a couple of steals and scores and Nash passing to teammates for easy baskets.
Jalecia McMillian scored six in the final period and Addison Posey hit a three pointer in the second half to close out the 64-31 win.
Fairfield travelled to Buffalo to take on the Lady Bison on Friday and jumped out to a quick early lead and coasted to a 69-20 win. Fairfield scored the first twenty points in the game and pitched a shutout in the first period. Thaler scored six and Blayke and Charlee Brackens each scored four in the 20-0 period.
Adding to a 41-5 halftime lead, Fairfield continued to work on all scenarios with player personnel. Thaler scored sixteen in the game and Blayke Brackens scored 12. Jaci Abram added six points and Nash six. Posey and Schmidt added a score in the win.
