Mr. McDaniel was born on March 3, 1954 in Freestone County, Texas to Vernon & Helen Norton McDaniel. Growing up in Freestone County gave him the opportunity for many ventures as a kid and young man, including hauling hay for everyone around the Wortham area. He had many talents and skills that he put to use during his working career in oil & gas, and showed great finesse in operating heavy equipment, showing that he didn’t have any need for a level and could shoot the grades without any equipment.

Dennis was a very knowledgeable, smart and hardworking man, which is obvious from the multiple trades and skills he mastered over his years, including carpentry, electrical and plumbing, leading to him building his own home and designing and building an oil rig from the ground up.

Dennis was a hard worker, so the only hobby he every really enjoyed was relaxing when he had the chance.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon & Helen McDaniel; brothers, Larry, Cary and Billy Wayne McDaniel and wife, Kathy Ann McDaniel. Survivors include his sons, Clayton McDaniel, Johnny & Jody Drews; daughter, Jerri Ann Woodruff; son, Shaun Gill; daughters, Linda Lewis, Rachel Montgomery and Jennifer Hayden; sister, Verlene Martin; as well as numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Dennis will be remembered for his wisdom, advice that he didn’t mind giving and his knowledge of nature.

Serving as pallbearers are Jody Drews, Johnny Drews, Michael McDaniel, Jamie McDaniel, Wade McDaniel and Derrick McDaniel.

A special thank you to Jami McDaniel, Jody & Johnny Drews and James & Robert Hogan.
