“We are very grateful,” said Bill Capers, Executive Director of the Freestone-Navarro Bi-County Co-Op, about the recent $30,000 donation to special needs children in the area.

Big T’s Buddies Autism Support Network, together with Golden Circle Special Needs Association, presented $25,000 to area schools in Freestone, Navarro, Limestone, Leon and Anderson counties. Click here to learn more about these two organizations.

In addition, $5,000 was donated to Creekside Christian Retreat in Mexia, which serves as a camp for special needs kids.

Calling it “heart-warming and very special,” Capers expressed his gratitude to the community, as well as the organizations for taking the time to organize their fundraisers, “for the sole purpose of benefitting these kids that need it the most.”

Specifically benefiting from the donation are the 816 students of Freestone-Navarro Bi-County Co-Op that includes three school districts in Freestone County, and six school districts in Navarro County.

Capers explains that the Co-Op provides special education services and shares personnel among these smaller school districts. Services include diagnostics, speech therapy, OT, PT, counseling, and more.
