An unusual election year has just gotten interesting, with yet another local race in play as a write-in candidate files with the Freestone County Judge’s office this week.
Cooper Daniel announced his candidacy as a write-in for County Commissioner – Precinct 3.
“This is something I’ve wanted to do for a while,” says Daniel.
According to Daniel, he did not run initially because incumbent Bodie Emmons is “a friend and neighbor.”
As with many of the local candidates this year, Emmons faced three challengers during the Republican primaries. The race went into a run-off, with Emmons ultimately losing to Michael Daniels by 67 votes.
With this new development, voters living in Precinct 3 will be asked, once again, to chose a new County Commissioner – Republican Michael Daniels or Write-In Candidate Cooper Daniel.
