Wortham Volleyball team won third place in the 50th Leon Anniversary Volleyball Tournament on Saturday, August 17th.
Wortham beat Centerville 25-17, 25-23 and then lost to Robinson in three sets 25-21, 19-25, 21-25 and then beat Mexia 25-19, 25-17 to win third in the silver bracket.
Rylee Goolsby led the offense with 34 kills, 8 blocks, and 4 digs.
Samantha Wright led the team with 20 kills, 29 digs and one block.
Setter Reagan Stuver had 56 assists, 16 digs and 3 aces.
Skylar Phillips had 6 kills, 28 digs and one block.
Jessica Black had 8 kills, 5 digs and one block.
Brynn Bowden had 23 digs, 3 kills and one ace.
Libero Megan Whaley led in serve receive and had 34 digs.
Samantha Lee and Cate Samford both had 2 kills a piece.
The Wortham Lady Bulldogs overcame many challenges while facing the larger schools in the tournament.
Wortham will face Blooming Grove this coming Monday, August 19th in Wortham.
