by Chief of Police Kelly Butler

I would like to take a moment and acknowledge several officers of the Wortham Police Department.

First, I would like to recognize Sgt. Kelly Craig for all that he does at the Police Department. Although Sgt. Craig is also the Fire Chief for the Wortham Volunteer Fire Department and has a civilian full-time job, he works part-time for the police department as Patrol Sgt. He has been involved with several large drug arrests from traffic stops and assists with many other aspects of the department when needed.

Second, I would like to recognize Officer Ashleigh Daniel. Officer Daniel has been assisting with our Sex Offender Registration for several years and she is also in charge of our Property/Evidence Room. This is an important position and ensures the integrity of evidence that has been collected for criminal cases.

Third, I would like to recognize Officer Nick McAlister. Officer McAlister has been a big help this year assisting with Traffic Enforcement and Code Enforcement. He has also made several arrests from traffic stops that resulted in drugs and illegal weapons being seized.

I would also like to mention Officer Dylan Thompson, who is the newest officer in the department. Officer Thompson has been involved in a few traffic stops that have resulted in arrest for drugs and illegal weapons being seized and has done a good job with those arrests.

The following three officers are being recognized for their personal accomplishments; I would like to recognize Officer Corey Price. Officer Price has been with the department for over 5 years and has just completed his Bachelor of Applied Science degree at Tarleton University. He has recently been hired at the Wortham Independent School District and will be teaching History and Assistant Coaching beginning this Fall. He will continue to be a member of the department but in a Reserve status.

Additionally, I would like to recognize Officer Amber Faigin. Officer Faigin has been with the department as a Reserve Officer for a couple of years and has just completed her Law Degree and is now authorized to practice law.

Finally, I would like to recognize Officer Matt Foree. Officer Foree has been with the department as a Reserve Officer for many years and works full time for Fairfield EMS. Officer Foree has also just completed his Paramedic training which was a year-long process.

We are thankful to have officers with the background and training that these officers have, and they have been as asset to the communities they serve.
