On Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 1:58 am, Officer A. Daniel and Sgt. K. Craig were contacted by Freestone County Dispatch who informed them of a burglary at the Dollar General located at 206 N 3rd. Dispatch also advised officers that the reporting party had attempted to stop the subject but the subject fled on foot.
Officers arrived and found the back doors open. With assistance from Deputy Campbell of the FCSO the building was cleared and nobody was found inside.
Sgt. Craig informed me of the burglary and I arrived a short time later.
After contacting store management Sgt. Craig was able to get access to security video.
When I arrived on scene I also reviewed video and observed the subject pictured in this post.
After processing the scene for evidence and based off of the video and the local citizen who reported the burglary, a possible location was determined for the suspect.
Once the Dollar Store was secured all officer proceeded to the suspects possible location. Myself and Officer Daniel made contact with the suspect inside the residence after being invited inside. At this time based on the physical description and other indicators and evidence located at the home an 18-year-old male subject was placed under arrest and transported to the Freestone County Jail without incident.
I would like to thank the reporting party for making the 911 call and giving us good information to follow up on.
Chief Butler
