In an exciting development for Wortham High School (WHS) and its Construction Technology students, Dallas-based Supreme Roofing has announced a strategic partnership with WHS to support an innovative hands-on learning experience. As part of the collaboration, Supreme Roofing will provide all necessary materials for students to build a tiny home on a 24-foot trailer—at no cost to the school!
The project, set to begin in 2025, offers WHS students invaluable real-world construction experience. Under the guidance of their Construction Tech instructor, Kevin Russell, students will apply classroom knowledge to each step of the building process, from framing and roofing to interior finishing.
Supreme Roofing’s generous support will cover everything from wood and insulation to roofing materials, electrical, plumbing and fixtures, ensuring students have the resources they need to complete the build without financial barriers.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Wortham High School on this meaningful project,” stated Supreme Roofing’s Founder, Tim Rainey. “We see this as an investment in the next generation of skilled tradespeople and are excited to play a role in preparing these students for success in the industry.”
Upon completion, the tiny home will be auctioned, with all proceeds benefiting the WHS Construction Tech Program. The funds will enhance program resources, helping to provide more learning opportunities and updated equipment for future classes and building projects.
WHS Principal, David Hayes expressed gratitude for Supreme Roofing’s support: “This partnership offers an exceptional opportunity for our students to gain hands-on experience in construction and craftsmanship. Supreme Roofing’s investment goes beyond materials; it’s a commitment to building futures in our amazing community.”
Hayes states, “Wortham High School strives to offer programs that will enable our kids to leave high school and go straight into a good paying job, whether it be a career or a steppingstone.”
WHS offers numerous certifications for its students already, including welding, culinary, EMT-B, phlebotomy, EKG Tech and Firefighter to name a few.
This tiny home project aligns with Wortham High School’s dedication to empowering students through career-oriented programs and providing them with skills that open doors to meaningful, high-demand professions.
Community members and industry supporters are encouraged to follow the project’s progress on the WHS Facebook page and to consider attending the auction upon completion.
