The 12th annual Jay Alderman Memorial Scholarship and bake sale fundraiser, held on February 9th at the First Baptist Church FLC, was very successful. Twenty-two teams enjoyed the competition.

Congratulations to the first place team of Beau Egbert and Wesley Walker (above), who received High Ho silver belt buckles.

Also congratulations to the second place team of Matt Watson and Terry Hagen (below) who received customized ivory domino sets.

We are indebted to all who play in the 42 tournament, donate and/or purchase baked items, give cash donations, or purchase T-shirts. Because of your dedication and support, this scholarship continues to benefit Teague High School graduating seniors. The amount given this year will total $6,000. We are grateful for all who help with this worthy cause.

It takes many people to organize, host, and help with this event, all of whom were Jay’s close friends. A very sincere thank you goes to some of the organizers, Justin Lee, Rosa Snyder, and Laine Kormos. For the delicious meal served, a very special thank you to Jimmy Hodge (pulled pork), to Walt Harrison, owner of the Old West Chuck Wagon BBQ (beans, HB buns, and condiments), and to Erick Gilbert, Renae Walker, Corey Turner, Walt Stacks, Laine Kormos, and Veronica Joyner (other meal items and soft drinks).

Thank you to Jeremy Little who ran the 42 tournament and kept it all together – a job well done.

You are all very special to us, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts as you honor Jay with the giving of this scholarship.
