Wilma Jean Martin, 85 of Fairfield, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2023, in Fairfield. She was born August 25, 1937, in Omaha, Texas to Clyde and Mary Collins Walker. Wilma was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Red Hat Ladies and was very active with youth group at church in the 70’s. Wilma was the first female realtor in Fairfield. She enjoyed doing hand work, cross stitching and needle point and playing dominoes and train. She and Carroll loved traveling. They travelled every state and all seven continents.
She is preceded in death by her parents and sister Dean.
She leaves behind to cherish the memories, husband of 65 1/2 years, Carroll Martin; daughter of the heart Donna Tyus; favorite niece Karen Waters and husband Kenny; brothers Leon Walker and wife Linda, Julius (Todd) Walker and wife Sandy and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm Saturday, February 11, 2023, at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home chapel. Celebration of Life began at 3:00 pm Saturday at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home with Richard Schaufert officiating. Burial will be at Omaha City Cemetery in Omaha, Texas. Honorary pallbearers will be James Tyus, Rich Schaufert, Davy Reed, Sid Stroud and Kenny Waters.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St.Jude or charity or church of your choice.
Funeral arrangements were conducted by Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home of Fairfield, Texas.
