On Sunday, October 3, the Wortham High School Chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) inducted six new members in a candle lighting ceremony.  The new inductees included: Preston Batts, Dana Calame, Kaydence Carr, Grecia Juarez, Grace McCoslin, and Michelle Misini.

During the ceremony, current members lit candles to symbolize the four pillars that serve as standards for the NHS:  scholarship, leadership, service, and character.  As the inductees were introduced by the principal, Mr. David Hayes, they received a certificate and a membership pin.

This is the sixth year that Wortham High School has participated in the NHS program under the consultation of Mrs. Katherine Havens, faculty sponsor.  This year, she will be joined by Mrs. Teresa McLaughlin as a co-sponsor.  Last year, the members volunteered over 600 hours of community service and mentoring hours in the schools and community.

Congratulations to these hard working students!
