The semi-annual Book Sale conducted by the Fairfield Library staff and Friends of the Library was a huge success. The objective was to generate enough money to buy a laminator for use in the children’s programs and available to library patrons for a modest fee. Mary King, Children’s Program Coordinater, and other library staff are currently evaluating various products so that they can get the most bang for the bucks available! Mary King coordinated and led tours of students from the Intermediate school in February. This is a continuing program by the library and the school district. A total of 126 third grade students and teachers attended, 67 new Library cards were made to students. Last fall, there was a special Story Time for Pre-K classes at the elementary school. Adult programs always include Dewey Knits led by Linda Upton (first and third Tuesday mornings in the Community Room), and an Adult Tech Class taught by Library Director, Gary Wiggins (third Tuesday evening, 5:30 – 6:30). March plans The quarterly Family Game Night is scheduled on the 29th from 6:30 to 8pm. BINGO is the game and all materials will be provided. Stop by the library and pick up a flyer so you can bring the family out for an evening of free fun for all ages. March’s Adult Tech Class will be a continuation of Excel training and will be about using formulas in Excel spreadsheets. Class is scheduled for 19th 5:30-6:30, so contact the staff to reserve your seat and computer. The Fairfield Library Association annual Public Meeting is on Thursday, March 21, at 6:00 p.m. in the Community Room. As the name implies, everyone is invited to attend and hear the Director’s report for the last year at the library, meet the board members, and participate in the meeting. Finally, the Texas Rx Card Program has provided FREE Discount Prescription Drug Cards To The Residents Of Texas for several years, and a supply of cards is available at the Fairfield Library. The Texas Rx Card was launched to help the uninsured and under insured people of Texas afford their prescription medications. However, the program can also be used by people who have health insurance coverage with no prescription benefits (which is common in many HSA’s and high deductible health plans). The preferred pharmacy of the Texas Rx Card is H.E.B. pharmacies. There are additional participating pharmacies including Brookshire Brothers and thousands of independent pharmacies. We always welcome your ideas to make the Fairfield Library a “go to” place for you and your family. Remember to check out the Fairfield Library page (Facebook.com/FairfieldTXLibrary) every week for fun-filled photos of the weekly Story Time, see what events are coming up, and visit our website for additional information and latest updates (https://www.fairfieldtxlibrary.org/).
