August 2016 ended as a rare-green August compliments of 6.60 inches of rain; and the wettest August since 2008.
We had 12 days of measurable rainfall with a greatest on-day total of 1.29 inches on August 15th.
Total rainfall for the year stands at 41.74 inches. Normal rainfall through August is 27.61 inches.
Through August, we are just 2.07 inches short of having normal rainfall (43.81 inches) for the entire year.
Temperature-wise, August ended with an average daily temperature of 84 degrees (two degrees above normal).
Hottest day of the month, and hottest day of the year, was 102 degrees on August 12th.
We had five triple-digit temperature days, 14 days in the nineties, 11 days in the eighties, and one day at 78.
Low temperatures ranged from 73 to 81 degrees.
On the bright side, the three hottest months of the year are behind us.

LOOKING AHEAD TO SEPTEMBER
September is normally our fourth hottest month of the year; however, the hottest temperature recorded in the past 22 years is 110 degrees, on September 3, 2000.
Normal rainfall for September is 3.06 inches. If we have normal rainfall in September, it would put us above normal on rainfall for the entire year.
