“Living is like tearing through a museum. Not until later do you really start absorbing what you saw, thinking about it, looking it up in a book, and remembering — because you can’t take it in all at once.”
-Audrey Hepburn
So, dear reader, did you know Texas is home to 597 museums?
Did you also know that our own Freestone County Historical Museum’s custodians of culture constantly concern themselves with the work at hand and your desires in a museum?
And with that, Linda Mullen, Museum Board President and Patricia Pratt, Museum Curator shown in the photograph, happily invite you to experience your museum. So let the fun begin, including the progressive dinner on May 4th which starts at 5:30 PM. The Museum is the third stop (AKA The Dessert Stop) More details on the Facebook Page or by calling (903) 389-3738.
Located at: 302 East Main Street.
Come experience the wonder of the past, the joy in the work, each individual connection and to relish this time of discovery. I hope each of you will make time to become deeply familiar with this hometown gem. And now for some great advice from a well-known art critic.
“Don’t go to a museum with a destination. Museums are wormholes to other worlds. They are ecstasy machines. Follow your eyes to wherever they lead you … and the world should begin to change for you.”
-Jerry Saltz
