Palestine Chapter 991 of the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) is now accepting Scholarship Applications through April 26th for grants to be awarded for the 2019 Fall Semester. The Chapter has had a long history of supporting Vietnam Era veteran’s families, in our seven county area of responsibility, by awarding deserving students a scholarship grant of up to $1,000 dollars per semester. The grants are to be used for secondary education studies or advanced technical training during each of the fall and spring semesters. Awards will be made to the most deserving applicants who qualify according to the following basic criteria established by VVA Chapter 991:
–Be a Vietnam Veteran or Vietnam Era Veteran, or be in the direct family of the Vietnam Veteran;
–The qualifying Veteran must be a resident of Anderson, Cherokee, Freestone, Henderson, Houston, Leon, or Limestone counties;
–The applicant must be pursuing an Associate degree, Bachelor degree, or technical certification from a four-year college or university, a junior college, or a technical trade school.
–The competition is open to high school students, college students, and home-schoolers.

After receipt of the Applications, the Chapter Scholarship Committee will review and evaluate all Applications, and recommend awards to be approved by the Chapter. The deadline for submitting Applications is April 26th of this year.
